Volvo Repair: 2001 Volvo s60 immobilizer, resistor pack, volvo s60

Question
I Have a 2001 volvo s60 with 60000 miles.  I recently tried to turn on the blower for the air or heat and it would not work.  I turned off my car and heard through the window that something was occuring in my engine even with the car off.  i started the car and tried the blower and it worked but only for like a minute, then on my information box it reported "immobilizer see manual."  What exactly does this mean?  And what should i do about it?  Thank You, Nathan

Answer
The immobilizer manual means that the aimmobilizer module did not recognize the transmitter in the key you were trying to start the car with.  SO it means the key has a problem with the transponder or you have a problem with your immobilizer.  Try starting the car with a different key.  If that works, the key that gave you that message is bad.  If none of them start the car, you will need to have the car towed to a dealer to have the problem looked at.  As far as your blower goes, your most likely problem is the power stage.  It acts like a resistor pack, but is used for automatic climate modules.  They should be able to address that problem at the same time when it is at the dealer.
