Volvo Repair: car shuts down., car volvo, fuse panel

Question
Again, this is a car we purchased about 2 months ago.  I was driving this car 2001 S40 and it just died everything, radio, lights, and recranked in about 2 sec. 2nd time died after putting in park recranked immediately.  3rd time would not crank at all. Jumped off fine.  cranked again on its own about 15 minutes later. and again next morning. was told alternator was going out not gone. Put new volvo alternator on. worked fine for 1 week. Do not have remote entry and tried to unlock door 1 week after replacing alt. alarm sounded could not get into car.  Volvo repairman came unlocked everything was dead. said it was the anti-theft in door.  Piece was broken in door lock, replaced. Have since gotten remote for car.  2 wks later no incidence, until last night was driving home turned blinker on right, then left blinker car dies in road everything out lights radio everything, coasted into drive maybe out 5 sec. lights come back on car recranked.   Help? I am at my witts end have only owned about 2 months, no warranty, purchased from reputable dealer  who will do nothing even though first incident happened while test driving and they checked all battery connections.  and reset radio code.  PLEASE HELP  any suggestions... All work so far done by local Volvo mechanic...tired of spending money and nothing fixed.

Answer
Well this is a very unique problem.  I have never encountered anything like it.  The only thing I can figure is that some connection is loose somewhere or some wire is damaged somehwere and making poor or unwanted contact.  As far as where to start looking, obviously with the battery.  Check for corrosion and wires starting to rot away.  Move your way up from there checking out all the power connections.  Fuse panel computers, etc.  Also be sure to check the major grounds.  Other than that it would really require more hands on from me to be able to decide where to go from there.  The possibilities for whats causeing this are almost endless.
