Volvo Repair: transmission on 2004 V70 2.5T, warranty dealer, correct diagnosis

Question
I just had to have transmission replaced under warranty. Dealer said it was defect. Now the car seems to run much rougher and noisier. I know nothing about mechanics but I have the feeling the rpms are running too high. I took it back to the dealership and they test drove it and checked it and say its right and they reloaded new software to be sure! When idling, it is at 7500. I feel like I am driving a race car, not the nice quiet Volvo I had before. What do you think? I really do not like the way it is running. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Well 7500 rpms is hard to beleive since that is higher than the redline.  Not much more i can recommend that YOU can do.  It will mostly have to be dealer work to sort this out.  If you are convinced there is a problem and that the dealer that put the transmission in is not following through on the repair you should try taking it to another dealer to get a second opinion.  I wouldn't have them do the repairs since it will cost you more money, but i would pay them the diagnostic fee, get a diagnosis of the problem, and then take that back to the dealer that did the original repair and have them look at the car again/fix the problem.  Also you should try to get them to reimbusre you for the fee you had to pay the other dealer to fix the problem.  I am putting a transmission in an S80 right now that almost the same thing happened.  It was shifting funny, another dealer sold her alot of work she didn't need (transmission flush, axle seals, software upgrade) because her transmission had registered an internal fault already.  She brought it to me and I made the correct diagnosis and she was able to obtain a refund from the orignal dealer.
