Volvo Repair: electric seat, model volvo, volvo dealer

Question
my drivers side electric seat will only go forward on one side.  The inside seems to be stuck.  i have tried to clean out anything visible but it only tries but remains in the same spot.  If i have to take the seat out how do i do it or can a fuse be blown on one side.   1993 940 turbo   thanks

Answer
Dear Dave,
I can only guess as to what the problem is.
My suggestion is...look for electric seat relay behind fuse/ashtray area..I dont know which relay is the right one...you may remove the complete relay assembly by identifing the tabs that hold this a to the floor of car and releasing them.
If this is some other model Volvo you should check the fuses with a test light...or battery connections.
Also..take out seat and look for obstruction.
With the elect. connection to the motor in your hand test voltage to motor with test light..if no volts ...problem is in voltage supply...if yes...motor is stuck or binding...rap the motor with medium hammer and retry switch with wiring connected and on switch on to operate window...all other testing should be done with xpertise....ala sevice dept at your Volvo dealer...or a competant mechanic....you might be able to make repair yourself...but you must ask mechanic for permission to do the job yourself.
          Good luck,
