Volvo Repair: 1991 Volvo 240/No start, neutral safety switch, volvo 240

Question
Ive just spent the last couple hours checking this car out. The car does not turn over. I thought it was a dead battery. Got the battery checked out and it was good. I cleaned off the cables, still no turn over. Have power to the radio and accesories. The original problem with this car was the car cut off and could not be restarted. What could kill the car like this? Seems to be something in the ignition. What is the power flow from the key to the starter? You turn the key nothing, just the lights on the dash come on,No starter turning.I can hear a buzz in the back, fuel pump. But thats it,bad starter. But that would not shut down the engine.

Answer
William, Remove the shifter cover and look at the neutral safety switch.  See if the pin that goes into the switch has come off.  You will see the slide switch.  It should be in the Park Position.  If its okay, Have somebody tap on the starter motor while someone is tunring the Key.  Starter may have died all of a sudden.  Let me know.  Roger
