Volvo Repair: 2000.Volvo, S80, emission and check engine lights on, volvo s80, 2000 volvo s80

Question
It started to choke when I started my car, then, it keep choking the whole way. It also wouldn't go above 40mph. About 5 miles later, both of the emission and check engine lights came on. When I got home, about another 5 miles after the lights had been on. I found that the engine seems hotter than it usually was.
What kind of problem does it seem to be ? And I will be going to get it fixed at the volvo certified dealer. And how much it usually cost?

Answer
It sounds like your problem is related to the electronic throttle body. On that particular model/year the warranty was extended for that component to 10 years 200,000 miles.  I am pretty sure but cannot be positive.  If that is not the problem you will have to have a dealer do a read out of your on-board computer to know what is going on to set the light, there would only be a minimum diagnostic fee for that.  You can read the service bulletin on that component and warranty on the NHTSA website.  Hope that helps.
