Volvo Repair: Auto Trans fluid change, hose clamp, series cars

Question
James,
My Volvo is a '98 V70GLT.  I was told I could flush the trans fluid at home.  Drain from the sump, refill that amount of fluid.  Then disconnect the return line from the trans cooler. Install a hose from the cooler to a jar, and run until bubbles start.  Stop engine. Refill the fluid lost, repeat until all clean fluid.  Two questions.
1.  Which fitting is the return line? I belive its on the drivers side, but is it top or bottom.
2.  This car uses clips about an inch long that go about 3/4 of the way around the fitting I'm going to work on.  They secure the line to the radiator. After it is pried off are the reusable?
Thank You,
Eric

Answer
1. I'm not sure which one is which.  I exhausted all my research here and it doesn't list which is input or output.  I believe that the bottom is suction from the transmission, but I'm not 100% sure.  With the line off, once you start the engine you'll know immedietly, it may be a bit messy though.  I wish I could be of more help but there aren't any older 70 series cars here I could check on.

2.  Those clips are flexible and shouldn't bend permanently when you remove them, just use a set of snap rings spliers to spread the clip and then slide them down onto the line, then the line will just pop off.  Install is just the oppisite.  Try not to open them any more than necessary.  As a precaution we always put a zip-tie or hose clamp around the clip after assembly because if the clip is loose at all it may pop off while driving and strand you.  As long as you're using the right tool it should be very easy to get off.
