Volvo Repair: when trying to accelerate it almost dies, vacuum leaks, vacuum line

Question
I have a 1992 240 with 175k miles. When you push on the accelerator it sucks air on almost dies (sometimes it does) It rough idles in park and it shakes a little. I was thinking either 1) bad gas except it is 89 octane 2) clogged fuel filter 3) bad fuel regulator or 4) electrical ? what should I check first.

Answer
Gary, No its not the Fuel Filter.  I alwways wonder why people think that is the problem.  Anyway, what it does sound like is a bad airmass meter or the main fuel pump not putting out enough volume.  Can you hear the pump running under the car?  To check the air mass meter, unplug it and let the car shake some more, then replug it in and see if the car dies.  If it does, then get a new meter.  Check the fuel regulator by removing the vacuum line and check and see if the tip is wet with fuel.  Also, check for any vacuum leaks.  Roger
