Volvo Repair: Rear wiper not working., volvo 240 dl, volvo 240

Hi,I have a 1987 Volvo 240 DL Wagon, and my rear wiper stopped working a while ago. It was raining at that time, and my rear wiper kept working even after I turned the car off. After a while it stopped, and it hasn't worked after that except at random times just for a few cycles. I have a little rust on the back door, and I am wondering if the motor got burned by water? Or is it the relay? I really hope I don't have to replace the motor cause it costs a fortune... Thanks.

          I'm familiar with your problem...the problem is wiring.Wiring located in hinges that support the tailgate get frayed/broken and the wiper stops...almost never is the problem a failed rear wiper motor....if you decide to repair the broken wiring you should know that you must have a average to above average mechanical abilities to do this repair PROPERLY....if you have abilities to do this job...contact me at...bilbothegreat@hotmail.com and I'll explain what is needed..
