Volvo Repair: Ignition switch wiring, tricky job, b battery

Can you please tell me how to wire a basic 3-pole (ST-IG-B)ignition switch. What does ST-IG-B stand for.

Can this 3-pole ignition switch be used as a cheaper alternative for an ignition switch which  has originally more than three poles?

Hello Yahaya,

             I think you may or may not be able to use 3 pole where 4 pole was...
              S...start...Ig- ignition...B- battery..
           If the 4 pole switch had a acessory mode... it may be the 4th wire....you'd have to identify each wire..
         If you're putting this switch on a Volvo....you'll have many more wires than 4 attaching to ignition swith...tricky job.
