Volvo Repair: follow-up to 240 starts then dies, mass airflow sensor, question archives

Question
Hello again. Yesterday I was continuing to check what I could. I pulled the fuel filter off to verify that it wasn't plugged and it was ok. I then decided to disconnect the mass airflow sensor (I've read this in the question archives).
It started and continued to run, not very good, but it didn't die. So, can I assume that this is the problem and if so can they be repaired? Thanks again.

Answer
Hi Craig,
Airmassmeters fail often...there are rebuilt aftermarket ones or $100...shop around...some repair shops will charge over $500 for this repair. It takes about 5 minutes to replace the AMM.
