Volvo Repair: Brake service messege in window, volvo xc90, volvo dealer

Question
I have a 2003 volvo xc90 and while driving the brake service messege comes on then goes off, but not every time I drive it.  I had the brake pads replaced recently with the called for ceramic pads at a local (non-volvo) shop.  Is there a reset for this warning? does it come on at a certain mileage? Of course my volvo dealer wants $78/hr to look since I didn't have the work done at his shop.
The car is under warranty with approx. 33000 miles.
The brake fluid is full.
I have not asked the shop if they bled the brakes but they run a good shop. Of course the volvo dealer is going to say they are after market pads, etc., etc.

Thanks for your help.

Jeff

Answer
Hello Jeff,
I think your light problem relates to a fluid inbalance(how front brakes and rear are designed to  actuate)...often repaired by bleeding brake lines....other problems may also be present...sensors...etc.
I ddon't think the dealer will give you a hard time because you put on non OEM pads.
Get their opinion....be nice...not grumpy to
them....you'd be surprized how nice they can be.

                Good luck,
