Volvo Repair: Power Windows, window switches, window switch

Question
The power windows are only working intermittantly. Sometimes, the windows will work, sometimes they don't. It seems like it may be a bad ground, but have you experienced a problem like this before? If so, how can it be fixed. The passenger and back door switches don't work at all.
It's a 1985 745 with turbo diesel, automatic trans ( ZF ). I have only owned it for a short time. Thanks for any help you can give,

          I'd bet a bundle of 50's that your problem is....dirty or failing window switches.
   Yep,it's as simple as that.
   If you're very good with your hands you can take the switches apart...clean and lube them and they MIGHT work good again.
       I think they sell for...26dollars...ea.

        P.S. Be carefull not to break the clips that keep the switch fixed to the window switch housing.

    Make sure your alt. is putting out 14.5v...or windows will take lots of time to open and close.
