Volvo Repair: Volv0 850 1996 132,686 miles, brake pad change, volvo dealership

Question
My Volvo has run well since I bought it a year ago.I brought it to a Volvo Dealership because of a recall for inspection of Feul tank and installation of rubber dampers.  I was told #1) my rear calipers and pads were sticking and rotors rotted so"(new rotors and pads needed"
#2")Lower mount is Broken and Tie Rod has some play"
Please advise on service and reasonable cost.I have searched the net and have no idea if local repair, or Midas or what is best.I also believ I must do some in order to pass emission tests for inspection this year. Jeanne Acton, Mass.

Answer
Hello Jeanne,  You will enjoy your new 850 she just needs some things that will be 'once in its lifetime'repairs .I to recently bought an 850 and she needs the same mount..they all did/do. As for the rear brakes the same is true, because the pads last 2-3 to one front brake pad change they get neglected. It was one of the first thing I looked for,got lucky, however my rotors make noise. The 'tie rod is part of the sterring assy.,it located by the wheel. If you duck under and look, youll see it as the 'end' of the arm that pushes and pulls the wheel leftand right. There are many, many Volvos in you area, your local Midas should be familiar with them Also, the largest resources are other Volvo drivers. We're a neat bunch,we'll help any way we can.
