Volvo Repair: timing belt change, volvo s80, interference engine

mechanic is recommending changing the water pump and the same time as the timing belt (110,000 miles) is this a normal practice?  the car is a volvo s80 t6

Hello Tom,  Yes,..yes it is .Due to the 'nature of the beast,that has an 'Interference Engine'. Damage,much,if the pumup siezes up or simply separates from itself.At those miles ya haf to,but cha gotta! Tensioners and idler pullys toooo! I have an 855 t/bo and next month she gets it all.Plus the 'serpentine belt'!!thank you and good hunting! PKD ps. 855 w/134k
