Volvo Repair: 740 Turbo 1985 Volvo alternator belt, alternator belt, slide bolt

Question
Hi I just got my volvo back 2 days ago from repair shop, have driven about 30 miles with minimal problems(it does stall out when I am driving, repair man says my internal gas tank fuel pump is shot & to keep tank full). Anyway today when I started it all dash lights, battery, etc. come and stay on and my voltmeter indicates no battery juice. I drove about 5 miles in daylight and when home looked under the hood to find what I think is my alternator belt lying beneath the alternator on some hoses.I once replaced an alternator on a toyota,10 years ago, so despite knowing nothing about repairs I know what the alternator looks like and alittle on how it works. How do I put the belt back on? Can I do it myself? And any thoughts why it came off? Thanks Louise

Answer
ther is 1 13mm nut under the alternator loosen this then loosen the 10mm slide bolt this will loosen the alternator.the A/C has 2 13mm nuts on top of it on 2 seperate slide brackets the front one also has the 10mm slide bolt loosen these and it will loosen the A/C. COMPRESSOR.why it came off I can not say.
