Volvo Repair: Starting problems with my Volvo 740 GLE from 1989, volvo 740 gle, volvo 740

Question
Going on shorter trips, where the engine only gets "medium" warm, the car wont start again after being turned off for a short time (½ hour). I have to wait for 1-2 hours, before I can restart the car. It seems like the engine has to get cold again, before I can start it.
Now the car/engine has also begun to stop when its running. Normaly I can start efter a few minuts, but once I had to wait for 2 hours.
Can you help me ?

Answer
It has to be an issue with the temperature or something changing with the temoerature.  Your battery may be dying (works best when its cold).  I would say that it could be the engine overheating oreventing restart BUT that would never stop it while its driving.  Its too much of a safety issue for the engine to die.  It could be so many things.  You're best bet is to get a professional to look at it.  It requires electrical, mechanical, and chemical knowledge of whats going on and what could cause it to fail to find the cause.  If i was to go back and forth with you in emails guiding you through a troubleshooting procedure it could be weeks before your car is fixed because email is so slow.  Hope that helps some.
