the car is idling erratic and when it does the head lamps and dashboard lights go dimmer and brighter in sinc with the idling

Sounds like a heavy load at idle thats slowing alternator output causing the lamps to flicker and idle to fluctuate.  Anytime we do alternator tests where a heavy load is placed on the car the lights will do the same thing.  Could still be under warranty depending on what it is covered under (bumper to bumper, powertrain, etc.).  Let your dealer look at it and they should be able to tell you whats loading you system and what they can do about it.
