Volvo Repair: speedo pulse output, vehicle speed sensor, wellington nz

Question
Hi James, sorry to bother you again, but so far you are the only one that may be able to help me...this is a letter from my mechanic: "this vehicle requires a speedo pulse output for a taximeter. As i do not wish to tamper with the abs system any suggestions from the manufacturer would be greatly appreciated" ..... the problem is that he is the only mechanic in Wellington, NZ that can install taximeters. Looking forward to hearing from you.kind regards, Sasa.
(PS. if you ever come to NZ you can have a personal driver, or if  you have any question about scuba diving i am an instructor and i'd be glad to answer!!)

Answer
Sorry for the wait.  There is a transmission output speed (basically vehicle speed) sensor that should work without affecting any other systems.  If you have the vehicle on the lift, its near the top of the transmission, on the right hand side (passenger side).  It will look just like a wheel speed sensor. There isn't another pulsed signal that you could use that that isn't a brake signal.  There is no specific output for the speedometer.  Thats my recommendation.  Hope that helps.

James
