Volvo Repair: V70 oil consumption, crankcase ventilation, crankcase pressure

Question
My 1999 V70 has 95K mi. It didn't appear to use any oil until around 80-85K when the oil lite flickered rounding a freeway ramp. I checked, it was several quarts low. I've been checking it regularly now and its averaged 1-2 quarts at 1-2000 mi. The dealer says that's normal. I've owned 4 240's with up to 300k and never had anything like this rate of consumption. This is inmportant as the extd warrantee is up at 100k. I thought the 850 had some sort of oil prob with poorly fitted valve stem guides leaking. Any possibility this is the same. Or is there some other hidden warrantee issue here?

Thanks

Answer
providing there are no leaks it could bea turbo problem if it is a turbo.or a blockage in the flame trap crankcase ventilation system causing excessive crankcase pressure.a turbo will burn more oil than non turbo.more starts and stops and city driving will also use more oil than highway use.it would need to be looked at for a proper diagnosis.I would get a second opinion.
