Volvo Repair: 97 850 speedometer, odometer, temp., gas gauge problems, gas gauge, burn mark

The speedometer, odometer, temperature, and  gas gauges on my '97 850 are all not working and remain at 0 even when driving, shifting, etc.  I didn't notice any progressive malfunctions with the gauges...I just started my car one day and they weren't working.  The only thing I can think of is that I heard a sort of popping sound coming from near my hood and windshield the day before they stopped working.  I have checked all the fuses and they seem fine.  Any suggestions?

it could be something in the instrument cluster itds self or a wire has shorted to ground causing damage to either the guages or the circuit board for the instrument cluster.I would start with removing the instrument cluster to look at the circuit board for some type of damage possibly a burn mark.
