Volvo Repair: Brakes, newer cars, bads

Question
My car has 80,000+ miles(volvo 2000 S70).  I have replaced the front and back brake bads once.  The front pads need to be replaced, again.  They said I also need a new rotor  "normal wear and tear".
Do you think that is valid?

Answer
Yes, newer cars now use different types of metal for their rotors and different compounds for the pads just to get rid of noise but also have the brakes operate correctly. The result is softer rotors that need replacement sooner. And usually the fronts will wear twice as fast as rear ones.
