Volvo Repair: 1988 Volvo 760 (6cyl) fuel system, fuel pump relay, volvo 760

Question
Thanks for the info.  You suggested the fuel pump relay may be white.  Checked the fuel pump relay (apparently green - letter B - as stated by the local Dealer).  If I remove the #30 fuse the power to the green (B)relay is cut off.  I therefore suspect it to be the fuel pump relay.  The power to the white relay is not cut.  This is a Canadian import could it be different?  I searched the internet today for the for the fuel pump relay - none of which (from the photos) matched the one in my vehicle.  I'm considering a chunk ov C4 instead.  I can't even get a decent pin pattern for the ECU to try and do a manual test.  Do you think it would be worth trying to power up the main fuel pump directly - ie 12 volts to the terminals?  Is there any position sensor which may be stopping the fuel pump from coming on-line?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer
I don't know about this green relay. The 700 and 900 series use the basic same fuel system and relay locations. The white relay in the far left rear should be the fuel pump relay. I don't remember if you said you had spark or not but that should be first on list to check. If no-spark you will not get fuel pump operation. The fuel pump relay should click when key on and then click with engine cranking. The computer supplies the ground circuit for the relay to close contacts and then supply voltage to pump.

And yes, you can run bat voltage to pump to make sure it works.
