Volvo Repair: Volvo 850 Sedan fresh air vent, electronic climate control, de humidifier

Question
Hi, I have a 97 Volvo 850 Sedan that produces very humid, window fogging air whenever I use the fresh air or defroster without the air conditioning on. It also smells mildewy, but the window fogging and humidity is the primary problem.  It occurs even when I haven't been using the air conditioning recently, for example when I start it up in the morning, and abates only slightly if I run it for a long time, say with the windows down to let the humid air escape. Do you know what I can do about this? It doesn't seem right to have to use the air conditioner as a de-humidifier when what I want is heat.

Thanks,  Randy Mayes

Answer
if the car is electronic climate control and you pick defrost the A/C should automatically come on.I am not sure I understand this.there may be a problem in the vent system with one of the dampener motors.it would really need to be looked at for a proper diagnosis.there may be a leak in athe heater core.
