Volvo Repair: 1992 740 wagon, volvo dealership, vehical

I just purchased this vehical it ran ok for a couple of days, but when my wife was driving it at 50 mph the car lost power , but did not stall out. she let it sit for 15 min then tried to drive it ,it sputterd alittle and then drive it 10 miles home ok.could it be a fuel filter? The car was serviced by volvo dealership for all of its 165000 miles and looks to be in good shape. I tried replacing the filter but I could not get it off .

If the car has gone thru all it's services, the fuel filter should have been replaced. check to see if it looks new, if so, its probably not the problem.
The problem does sound like a fuel problem but more like an air mass meter problem. this should be confirmed by volvo tech before replacing.
