Volvo Repair: A/C- Volvo 2000 S70, compressor clutch, refrigerant lines

Question
Not sure if A/C is part of your specialty- but here's the problem. A/C comes on like normal when you start the car; but within 10 minutes the cold air stops, just blows air. If I turn off the A/C, and wait a minute or two, and turn back on- it works again, but only for a few minutes, then same process. It started a few weeks ago- seems to have gotten worse (less time on). I've left the A/C on (after it stopped cooling) for at least ten minutes to see if it was related to icing which might clear - but it didn't come back on. If the problem was icing- wouldn't the A/C come back on after the ice cleared?)

I took the car to the dealer- they hooked it up to the "computer" and got no errors- gave it back and said try not using the Auto settting, which didn't help. I realized after that they didn't wait long enough for it to go off- obviously it was working fine when it was working. I assume they checked the refrigerant level...

What do you think?

Answer
if it were icing the air volumn usually drops and the fan sounds noisey.if it is icing you would see ice on the refrigerant lines that go through the firewall.

my guess is the compressor clutch is bad.when the clutch gets hot the coils in it go open circuit.
