Volvo Repair: Power Windows and Blinker, 1997 volvo 960, volvo 960

Hello,

I have a 1997 Volvo 960 and when I crank the car up the power windows will not let down and the sunroof will not open. The blinker also will not work. Now, if I just crank the car to where all of the warning lights show and the radio will come on then the windows will let down, the sunroof will come open, and the blinker will work. Do you have any insight as to what the problem could be? I have had the fuses changed but obviously that was not the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

sounds like the ignition switch is bad.on the back side of the ignition cylinder is an electrical switch with contacts inside sounds like the contacts are worn.try turning the key back slightly after starting the car if the windows work after turning it back slightly the switch is bad.
