Question -
After changing the distributor cap and rotor I could not remember which lead went on which terminal on the cap!!! I know the firing order but am having difficulty knowing which spark plug is 1, 2, 3, etc and which way the rotor arm rotates. How can I easily identify which lead goes to which plug and cap terminal please?

4 or 6 cylinder?
Reply - It is a V6 - I believe that number 1 cylinder is nearest the cabin bulkhead on the right hand side looking from the front of the car toowards the back.
Answerfiring order is 163524.the rotor should go clockwise.cylinder 1 is where you mention as far as the spark plugs go.1 is near firewall on right side then going forward 2,3.other side is 4,5,6 4 being nearest the firewall then 5,6 going forward.I am not positive on the positions on the distributor cap.I will need to check a manual for that.
