Question -
i have a 240 gl 1986 how do you check for bad relay when i check at the socket it reads 12v and when i trip the socket that hold the relay you here the fuel pump does this relay also goven the fuel injector as well
Answer -
it does supply power to the injectors.there are several wires to the relay.one is power all the time the re are marked 87 and 87a on the relay that should be power when the engine is cranking over.the other wires should all be a ground signal when cranking it over if one of the ground signals are missing then the problem is in the control unit. also take the relay apart and look for cracks around the solder joints.

Answer
if there is no ground signal to the relays then the problem is in the control unit so you do not know now if it is a relay or control unit problem until you check for the gound signals to the relay.if you want to take a guess the relays do go bad often and are fairly cheap.
