Volvo Repair: Brake Lights, brake light switch, bulb failure

Question
I have a 1990 240DL and when I step on the brakes the lights don't come on. They were working fine up until I had to replace my alternator. That was replaced and the car is starting and running fine now.

I checked the fuse for the brakes and it is ok. I checked the bulbs and they are ok. What should I do next?

Thanks for any input.

Answer
2 possibilities possible brake light switch is bad or the bulb failure sensor is bad along with the 3rd brake bulb being burnt out.the 3rd brake light does not operate through the bulb failure sensor so the sensor and bulb may be bad.if the 3rd brake bulb is ok then I would rplace the brake light switch.
