BMW: 20 wheels on 01 330i, fender lip, factory wheels

my buddie has a set of 20" wheels for bmw he recently purchased to replace the 18" on the car ,problem is:rubbing on rears. question,what are some possibilities to fix this?keep in mind he has a budget and would like the cheepest way to handle the problem you can call him his name is homar ph #818 455 7059 or e-mail me thanks alot

 There are a few options, but honestly chances are the wheels are just too big.  Since you are putting larger than factory wheels on the car... the car wasn't designed for them.   First you need to locate where the tire/wheel is rubbing.  If that point can be moved then go for it.  Usually it's in the wheel well that the tires rub.  If it's rubbing on the suspension then I wouldn't touch anything... just dont put the wheels on.  If it's rubbing on the fender lip, you can "roll" the lips to provide some extra space.
 He might have to consider different tires as well.  A narrower tire, or one with a shorter sidewall might help too.
