BMW: 1988 735il BMW Brake Lights, brake light switch, bmw brake

Question
All the brake lights went out on my car.  I've been seeing the BRAKE LT. CIRCUIT warning come across the dashboard for quite some time.  Where should I look to correct the problem?  The fuse or the brake light switch?

Answer
Sweetroller,
Make sure that the bulb(s) are not blown, if a bulb blows then it will throw this alert.  Even the light above the trunk in the back window could do this.  So have someone check the brakelights for you and tell you if any of them are not working.  Make note of which one isn't working, and then check the bulb.  If it's blown replace it, if it's not, then just wiggle it a little and try again.  Sometimes they dont make good connection even if the bulb is fine.
If you have a fuse blown, none of the brake lights will work (or that's how the system "should" work).
 Hope this helps,
 Josh
