Buick/Olds: Leather interior in Buicks -, interior leather, lesabre limited

Question
Hi Taylor -

I like Buicks - especially Park Avenue and LeSabre Limited.  I'd like to buy a used model someday - but I've noticed something.  In all of the used Buicks I've seen, the leather seats are  worn out and dirty - even if the car is just a couple of years old.  The same is not true of Lexus or Cadillac interiors.  Does Buick use an inferior grade of leather?

Answer
Hey Mark

I've had the same concerns about interior leather. Buick uses the exact same leather as Cadillac BUT they only use the leather on the seating surfaces and not down the sides or the back of the seat. This means that the leather is stretched and pulled more because the vinyl sides and back have no 'give' to them. This puts all of the stretching responsibilty on the leather and it can only pull so many times before the elasticity gives up. It then begins to look wrinkled, worn and faded.
