Buick/Olds: Transmission not engaging, buick century, transmission fluid

Question
Hi,
I own a 1987 Buick Century, and the transmission is having problems. The engine starts and runs fine, but the car wont seem to engage any gear, and remains in neutral. Also, when the engine is turned on transmission fluid begins leaking from what appears to me to be the transmission housing. If I fill the transmission fluid and put the car into drive, the car tries to get into gear and move-it moves about four feet forward then dies. Is the leak the only problem because of lack of pressure, and is such a leak easily repaired? Thank you for any help you could provide, as I am at a loss.

Answer
I cant tell you if the leak is the ONLY problem and I cant tell you if it is easy to fix because you're not even exactly sure where the leak is coming from. I can tell you that if the trans stops working because of a loss of pressure or a loss of fluid, there WILL be internal damage to the trans.
