Buick/Olds: Buick Head Gaskets, egr tube, upper intake manifold

Question
Hi Harold:
I looked at a friend's car who thought the engine was seased. I removed the plugs and had antifrease spraying out of four cylinders of six.
My question: Do you know of any other way for antifreeze to get into pistons on both sides of an engine? Intake?
I have never seen both head gaskets blow at the same time and would appreciate info on any other possible cause.

I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thank you and have a positive day,

Rich

Answer
First of all, it would help if you told me what YEAR, MAKE, and MODEL and engine size you have.
I assume that you have a 3800 engine in a 98 or earlier C or H body Buick.
What the problem is, is there is a hole burned through the plastic upper intake maifold where the EGR pipe goes into it just behind the throttle body. The EGR tube gets hot enough to burn the intake and it burns a hole into a coolant passage.
You will need to replace the upper intake manifold and gaskets. Leave the plugs out and crank the motor unti there is no more coolant coming out. REPLACE the plugs. Make sure to diconnect the injector harness when cranking the motor to prevent a fire, because the plug wires can ignite the fuel.
