Cadillac: 1995 cadillac sedan deville, 4.9, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
transmission was replaced by national transmission chain.  Since then, there has been a very noticeable shutter when i reach approximately 43 miles per hours. It is much more noticeable when accelerateing slowly.  I have spent nearly $2000 more in other "repairs" that the Specialists said was causing the problem.  Everyting from tune ups to battery, battery cable replacement, spark plugs, wires, alignments, govenors.  To no avail.  I am told that the transmisson is working properly, but in my opinion it seems to be shifting into overdrive at 43 miles pere hour.  When I shift the shift lever to 3rd instead of D it seems to be better.  Have you expierenced this before?

Answer
Definately sounds like an intermittent fault in the TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID which is located under the side pan of the transmission on the valve body.

Try this test.

1. When the trans shifts into overdrive , maintain your speed with your right foot and slowly apply the brake pedal with your left foot and you will feel a slight bump feeling and the engine rpm's will increase. see if this stops the vibration. If it does, The TCC as stated above is most likely faulty.

You may also want to check both front axle joints by turning the steering wheel all the way in one direction and drive the car and listen for crunching noises.

Do the same for the opposite sude of a turn.
