Cadillac: crank sensor 1997 cadillac de-elegance, camshaft sensor, crank sensor

where is the crank sensor located on a 1997 cadillac 4.6 northstar.enjine start runs good no misses.after warming up and while driving enjine will shut off when service enjine light appears.after a short wait motor will crank again.new wires,new sparkplugs.codes are po371,p1350,and p1660 thank you.

Answer
The crank sensor is located near the bottom of the oil dipstick tube on the engine.

The camshaft sensor is located in the block near the ignition coils.

P0371 = IC 24X reference circuit to many pulses.

P1350 = fault in the ignition system.

P1660 = Fault in the cooling fan control circuit.


FIRST you need to CLEAR (erase) all the codes from the computer and disconnecting the battery will NOT CLEAR the codes.

Once the codes are cleared. Re-enter diagnostics and see if any codes reappear.

I can provide you with pictures and locations of these components as well as the diagnostic procedures to test these faults but it requires a scanner to perform the tests.
