Cadillac: 99 Seville service airbag light, accidentaly, air bag system

The service airbag message came on recently on my 1999 Seville STS.  I checked the fuse and it was ok. Was wondering what would cause it to come on, what the problem could be and possilbe fixes. thanks

Air bags are very dangerous to work with as they require de-activation by a technician and the necessary diagnostic information to test the air bag system for faults without accidentaly deploying the air bags.

NOTE: Disconnecting the battery does NOT remove battery backup voltage from the air bag system.
