Question -
I turns over like there is no gas getting to when the car is running the fuel pressure is between 12-15 psi as norm. sometimes it will just start up with no problem other times it will not get the gas to the throttle body. im thinking it could be the fuel relay sensor or the fuel pump itself.  Also could you email me a location diagram of all the switches and sensors on the 4100 engine to whitfieldlj@yahoo.com please.

Question -
I have a 85 coupe deville. The problem is I've changed everything related to the distributor cap, wires, plugs, distibutor module, and even the ignition soleniod.  It wont crank unless i spray starter fluid into the throttle body. could you help me on this one please.

Answer -
You mean it won't START. It is when you turn the ignition key to the start position and you don't hear NOTHING from the engine, This is referred to IT WON'T CRANK.

You could either have:

1. A faulty fuel pump.
2. A fault computer.
3. Faulty wiring.

Can you physically see fuel being sprayed out of the two injectors when you try and start the engine ?.

Fuel pump test:

1. Get yourself a helper.

2. remove the gas cap.

3. have one person listen in the gas tank at the gas cap opening.

4. have the other person turn the ignition switch to the ON position ONLY so as the dash lights come on. Do NOT attempt to start the engine.

5. As soon as the ignition key is turned to the ON position, The person at the gas tank should hear the fuel pump run for TWO SECONDS and then it should STOP.

6. Does it ?.

7. If it does NOT run for the 2 seconds the fault is either the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay.

8. You need to put a fuel pump gage on the fuel line to be sure your getting sufficient pressure.

Answer -
I do not have an 85 book. I have an 84 and an 86 book and the fuel pressure for the 84 and 86 is 9 to 12 lbs.

Do you or did you ever see the check engine light appear on the dash panel and if so, What diagnostic codes were stored in the computers ?.

tom

Answer
E12 = No distributor signal
E26 = Shorted throttle switch.
E13 = Oxygen sensor not ready.

NOTE the codes MUST display each number THREE TIMES in order for it to be an actual CURRENT code.

CLEAR all the codes from the computer and see which ones come back.
