Cadillac: Service Theft System, cadillac sts, listening to the radio

I own a 98 cadillac STS and the other day i was cleaning out my car and i had it in the ON position listening to the radio and the volume on the radio just shut off. Everything was still working just not the volume so i turned it off and went to go start it and a message came up saying service theft system and wouldnt let me start my car. please I need help I love this car.
