After about 15 minuts the orange check engine light comes on.  As soon as it does I feel a slight mistep in the engine as I'm driving, also it idles just a bit rough in this condition.  Should I stop the car for a few hours the light is off but will appear again after about 15 minuts of driving. Can you help on this one? Thanks Rick.

Answer -
OK, The first thing we need to do is see what CODE is in the computer.

Do this procedure:

1. ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons until the whole display illuminates and then release the buttons.

3. CODES will start to appear and will stop when you see .7.0

4. turn OFF ignition.

5. Let me know what codes you get in the EXACT order in which they display.

Code Example: will start with .EE or .E.E then 2 or 3
numbers. OR will start with ..F or .F.F and
         2 or 3 numbers.

If your not sure that you got the letters and numbers correctly, Just start over again  by starting at #1.

Do or DID you have any codes that referred to the cruise control ?.

Answer
Was there ANY codes at all. Because once that check engine light illuminates it always shuts OFF the cruise control so as to get your attention that something is wrong. Once the CODE is repaired the cryuise will resume normal operation.

When the orange check engine light comes ON while you are driving, Go ahead and access the codes as previously instructed and see if any are there. You can do this with the engine running while your driving the vehicle.

Just be careful so as NOT to get distracted and cause an accident.

I can provide you with all the information to fix your cruise control.

However, You will need to contact me at:

tomcjoy@msn.com

In order for me to provide you with pictures and and electrical schematic to find and fix your problem since this board does not allow sending pictures.

PLEASE include your original question(s) and the MAKE-MODEL-YEAR and ENGINE SIZE of your vehicle when you contact me.

PLEASE tell me if you do your own repairs and or your skill level of auto repair. This is VERY VERY important if I am to be able to help you repair your own vehicle.
