Question1986 Cadillac Sedan DeVille AC, there is power going to the compressor, but with a test light I can find no power going to the other switches. The interior controls seem to work fine. I traced the wires back as far as I could for the switches under the hood, but couldn't get the test light to light up. I ran a code check on the car. It comes up E48, F41.
I tested the EGR valve, and as soon as the car comes up to temperature the vacuum opens the valve and it seems to be working fine. I don't know what the other code means.
Does the compressor have to kick on for the switches to have power and is there any other place I can look to try to detect this problem?
AnswerE48 = EGR system fault.
F41 = Cooling fans problem.
