Cadillac: best engine swap, cadillac fleetwood brougham, cadillac fleetwood

Question
I have a 1982 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham de Elegant with a 4100 4.1 liter v8 engine with 87,000 miles but, the motor knocks. I was thinking of getting it rebuilt but I have been reading up on the motor and haven't heard anything good about it. I was planning on switching to a carburetor instead of fuel injection  because I believe it would be cheaper. I was hoping you might have some suggestions on which motors I could possibly use.

Answer
You CANNOT swap motors in the computerized cars like you used to be able to 20 years ago.

NONE of the computers electronics will match up to the computers. Even the carburated 1986 motor has a computer.

Your STUCK with putting in the same engine. However if you get a GM REMANUFACTURED ENGINE it will have all the updated problems resolved from the past years when it was used.
