car is over heating shop says has no telltell signs of head trouble wants to clean or replace radiator as it is running a hundred degrees hotter on one side than the other. Should i allow them to do this work without knowing for sure? Car previously had head gasket repaired.  thank you so much for your time.
Answer -
Never ever have a radiator cleaned. Always replace it.

If they are POSITIVE that they do not have a head gasket issue than a new radiator would be the next step depending upon their diagnostics procedures.

Thank you for your answer. I allowed them to replace the radiator and it is still running hot with no leaks. As it turns out when the previous head gasket repair was done a thread was stripped in the block. Is it possible to salvage this engine or not? thank you again for your time.

It can be fixed using a helicoil. However you will have to pull the head off again.

What they do id drill out the stripped hole to a little larger size and thread in this heli-coil that looks like a real thick 1" spring into the bolt hole and then the bolt goes into the center of this heli-coil and does a nice job.

I am really sorry to continue to ask questions but im blonde you know lol!!!  apparently they did the heli coil kit and the goodyear is saying it still needs a new block however this engine runs so smooth with no signs of cracked head or gasket trouble(no leaks) help what should i do?  Is it possible to speak with you I will gladly pay for phone consult.  Thank You

Answer
There has got to be a problem with either the:

Thermostat.
head gasket
cylinder head.
warped block.

It seems as though they do not know what they are doing there and I would advise you to get it out of there and get it to a reputable Cadillac repair center where they know what steps to take in order to diagnose your problem.

What they need to do know is look for bubbles in the radiator with the cap is off and the engine running.

Better yet, is to remove all the spark plugs and put 80 lbs of air pressure into each cylinder one at a time with the engine naturally off and watch for bubbles in the radiator. This will confirm a bad head gasket, a warped or cracked cylinder head or a warped or cracked engine block.

Get it out of there as they seem to not know what they are doing.

I do not make or accept phone calls, Sorry.
