Cadillac: engine service soon light & trans fluid message, cadillac dealer, service engine soon light

Question
Just got a 94 STS cady. The Service Engine Soon light is coming on after a few min of driving. How do I turn this light OFF.

The message indicator is also telling me to Check Trans Fluid. How do I reset this to turn OFF.

The SERVICE ENGINE SOON light is ILLUMINATED due to a fault in the vehicles electronics system. There are CODES that must be retrieved and a diagnostics performed and the fault fixed BEFORE you can get the light to stay OFF.

The SAME is with the transmission. You can check the fluid level in the transmission via the transmission dipstick when the engine is running and is at normal operating temperature. Just remove the transmission dipstick and look to see that the fluid is at the FULL MARK on the stick. If NOT, Add transmission fluid until it IS at the FULL MARK.

If you check it and it is OK, Then this problem will also have to be diagnosed and fixed before the TRANS LIGHT will stay OUT at your local Cadillac dealer.
