Cadillac: 1992 Cadillac Seville 4.9L, cadillac seville, 1992 cadillac seville

Question
I have a well kept 1992 Cadillac Seville with a 4.9 liter motor. Current actual miles 73800.

Recent major professional repairs made approx 6mts ago includes front shocks struts, lower motor mount, brakes and calipers all around.

I have personally made minor repairs 4mts ago of the recharging of the air conditioning(found some r12) and replaced the serp-belt, fuel filter, Pvc valve.

In addition to any other work done was spark plugs,wires,dist-cap, all fluids etc, have been changed out at 33400 miles. "The car sat for 2 years prior to me purchasing from an elderly relative insisting he needed to replaced these items"

Finally to my questions,

Around a year ago I noticed in the mornings my car would not start,it seemed, due to a dead battery. So I replaced the original with a new battery. The following morning same-thing, car would not start. In conversation with some friends one suggested I look for a short within the car that could be draining the battery overnight. By chance that night I was called into work around 1:30am. As I was approaching the car I noticed the interier lights where on. Just prior to opening the door the lights turned out. As I stood with confussion on my face out side of the car I decided to see if the lights would come back on. After approximately 5min they did. Apparently watching this happen every 5min I did have some sort of short.

Several hours later from returning from work I started to look for the fuses that controled the interior lights so I could pull it preserving the battery. To make a long story short in this case I also learned that both passenger doors would not lock unless manually operated.

I took the vehicle for service to a dealer but they where unable to pin point the problem. I was told they could replace both door accuaters on the passangers side of the car but this may not fix the problem. In addidtion to the interior lights they agree a short is present, but they can not gurantee that they can fixed the short due to too many differnt possibilities.

I elected for them to not do any work on the car due to me not being satisified with their high priced proposal and no gurantee in resoving the issues at hand.

So in this case I have remained with these problems and have just left the fusses pulled to elliminate the shorts. It seemed harmless as it appeard nothing else was being affected. That is untill now?

I am having problems with the heating of the car. It seems to just blow room temp regardless to how hot the air is set too in the heating mode. Still blows cold if in the ac mode. At the same time this happened I noticed the motor missing as it acclerated. I first thought it seemed as if the car had clogged fuel injectors. I responded with an air cleaner several tank fulls of premium fuel and fuel injector cleaner added to refills for approx 6 weeks now. No luck.

I  dont now what to do as to if the short is playing a role to these new problems. I have only limited money to put into a car and feel paying a dealer $70 to just diagnose my car is a wast. What suggestions do you have for me with in your vast knowledge of Cadillacs. I appoligise for making this so lenghly but i feel the more you know the more you may be able to help.

Thanks

Answer
If you are using the remote anti-theft system whereas when you exit the vehicle and push the LOCK button the interior lights illuminate for awhile and the doors lock, Your problem is most likely in the antitheft module as it has becamo what si knowm as TEMPERATURE SENSITIVE.

As to the No heat, I see no relation here. Most problems related to no heat are usually caused by the A/C-Heater PROGRAMMER MODULE.

without electirical schematics and performing diagnostic procedures, Parts replacing would be only GUESSING.
