Cadillac: 93 deville brake system, brake controller, inlet valve

I have a problem with the brake system on my deville, first offf my anti lock light came on and would not go off I took it to have the code pulled and i was told it was th front left inlet valve at first i was given an estimate of $200.00, then when i took it back to be repaired i was told i was given the wrong price that it would cost well over $700,because i needed to replace the entire valve block,I didnt get it repaired and on the way home whenever i would press the brake pedal i hear a screaming noise i was told that this could possibly mean a bad brake booster, what kind of money am i looking at spending?

Without hearing the noise, It could be most anything.I would take it to another reputable reliable facility for another estimate.

I am NOT sexist by any means, But there are still some  facilities that will take advantage of a woman who brings in a vehicle for repair as they feel that a woman knows nothing about a car and so they try and take advantage of you.

My wife had a problem last week with her vehicle and she called me because the brake ligfht came ON and I told her to have someone look at it as she was about 100 miles from home. She called me back and said that they told her she needed a new BRAKE CONTROLLER for $400.00. I told her not to do anything as I would be there in just over an hour and a half. I got to the repair facility and they had NO IDEA that I was a retired automotive technician and I listened to his explanation and line of B.S. and then informed him that I wanted to speak to the owner. The owner came out and I explained to him my expertise and the line of B.S. I was given and the guy was fired on the spot. The owner and I looked at the vehicle and the ONLY problem was a brake line was leaking brake fluid.

They fixed it for FREE as well as an apology from the owner.

If possible have a male neighbor take it in or have someone who knows something about vehicle repair go with you or have him take a look.

I think, But not positive in that you may be being victimized and the ONLY way to find out is by my above suggestion.
