Cadillac: 2001 cadillac sts, fuel line filter, cadillac sts

Question
I have on 01 STS.  About a month ago the car would die unexpectedly in traffic.  It happened a few times.  Also, it seemed that after short in-town trips the car would start hard.  Now the dieing happens more often and it starts hard - sometimes it responds to pushing in the gas pedal other times it doesn't.  I imagine it is some type of fuel line, filter problem - am I correct?

Answer
You stated: "sometimes it responds to pushing in the gas
            pedal.

Answer: On fuel injected vehicles, the ONLY reason for
pushing in the gas pedal is a total waste of effort
as you are doing absolutely NOTHING but exercising
your FOOT and ankle. Therefore, Unless you need
your foot and ankle exercised refrain from doing
this as you are NOT helping anything.

What was the LAST repair on the vehicle ?. ANY repair of any nature ?. In most cases problems that arise days, weeks or even months later can usually be traced back to the previous repair.

Could be fuel and or ignition intermittent failure. You will have to determine WHICH one is the cause BEFORE we can procceed with possible test procedures, As the FIRST test is to determine if it is intermittent fuel or ignition  failure.

There are a VAST amount of possibilities so knowing if it is FUEL or IGNITION is what we need toknow FIRST.

PLEASE re-read the FIRST paragraph listed above and THINK about it and let me know.
