Chevrolet: 1995 Chevy Beretta, chevy beretta, heater hoses

Question
I have just changed the heater core due to a leak. A mechanic had cut the heater hoses and capped them off. I hooked them back up but I'm not sure they are right. The heater blows cold air and I was wondering is they were conected backwards would this cause the problem. Thanks.

Answer
Brad,
It could cause the broblem, but I would guess you maybe have air in the heater core. Take the radiator cap off and run the car up to operating temp. then see if there are any air bubbles that come up. Run the heater with the cap off and see if it blows hot as the air circulates out. If not, reverse the hoses and start again with the cap off. All the air has to be out of the system before it will work right, and with the cap on it has nowhere to go. Good Luck!
