Chevrolet: 94 Camaro hesitation, throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor

Question
Hi, Jim.
I have a 94 z28 with LT1 engine, automatic.  105,000 miles.  Car has tremendous power, but hesitates and tries to stall around 1600 to 1900 rpms.  Once I get past that rev band or down shift, the power is back.  Seems to do it more when at operating temp than when cold.  Only upgrade is high performance cooling fans.  NEVER runs hot.  THANKS FOR HELP.

Answer
Jeff,
I would look to the throttle position sensor first, or the mass airflow sensor. There are a few things it could be, such as an O2 sensor or a cam position sensor, but I would start with the TPS and the MAF and see if there is any difference. You can take out the MAF and clean it, and you should be able to either have the TPS tested or just replace it... it's relatively inexpensive. Before you do any of that though, have the codes pulled and see if there are any stored in the computer, it could give you a good starting point.
